Maori Language Week

This week is Maori Language Week.

This year the focus for Maori Language Week is correctly pronouncing place names.

We will be having some special visitors from Rooms 2 and 3 to teach us some tricks to ensuring we pronounce local place names correctly.

I also discovered this great website with lots of great information - maybe  your family can work together to learn how to correctly pronounce local place names.

This is how to pronounce Akaroa correctly.

Awesome Art

Today we made a collage giraffe.

We started by drawing our giraffe with vivid, next we coloured it in.  We also coloured the background it carefully.

Finally we added cut up pieces of paper as the mane for our giraffe.

We are proud of our art work.

Choir and Kapa Haka

Today we watched the year 3 and 4 children sing and also watched the Kapa Haka perform.  It was exciting to see our friends and brothers and sisters on the stage.

Awesome Assembly Room 16

Our long awaited assembly finally happened today!

I was very proud of our clever class.

You all did a great job of presenting assembly today.

We had HEAPS of certificate winners today as we had certificates from our last assembly to hand out too.

Have a look at this for great team work.

Snow Storms in Our Classroom

Today we did some very fun art. We made a snow storm scene. First we painted our background using blue and white paint in circles. We left our work to dry over lunch time then we added some snow flakes and some foot prints walking through the snow. We think they look amazing.
